The Thanksgiving Day Blessing

The Thanksgiving Day Blessing

The time has come that we set aside to celebrate the Thanksgiving Day Blessing.  It’s a tradition that has been around for ages. It is a time to reflect upon the blessings that our Creator has given to us.  Families and friends gather together for fun, food, and fellowship.

It goes without saying that we have many things to be grateful for each and every day.  The very fact that we are still alive is always a great place to begin expressing our gratitude to the Lord.

Even though this is generally a joyous time of unity and festivities we must remember that this is a very sad, lonely, and depressing time of the year for many people.  This is often due to a number of life’s crisis that could have occurred such as the loss of a loved one, the demise of a relationship, family problems, and financial anguish.  Being sensitive to the circumstances that others may be facing is definitely a characteristic of our Savior Jesus Christ.  We must seek the Lord’s guidance in showing us the best way to minister to them.  Perhaps inviting them over for dinner, or offering to take dinner to them if they insist on being alone.

Be discerning regarding the space that others may be in during this time.  For instance, don’t talk in detail about what a wonderful time you’re planning to have with your family on Thanksgiving to someone who has recently divorced and their ex has the children for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Whatever the case may be, be sure to express the love, compassion, and wisdom of the Lord.

Reflections

1.  Make a gratitude journal.  Enter at least 3 things per/day that you are grateful for.  This exercise also brightens your spirit on those down days.

2.  Let someone know that you are thankful that they are a part of your life and why.

3.  Express your gratitude to the Lord through a letter, song, praise dance, poem, etc.

4.  How can you be a blessing to someone that you know is having a hard time during this season?

Grateful For God’s Love

Grateful For God’s Love

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”  Luke 12:6-7 NIV

Aren’t you grateful that God knows you personally?  Out of the multitudes of people that He created and continues to create He has not forgotten one of our names.  He hasn’t forgotten the exact date and time that we left heaven to make our entrance in the earth.  He knew the precise amount of hairs that we would have on our heads, what race we would be, what our personality would be like, and so much more.  Only God could do that!

Each and every one of us was hand crafted by God, then He blew His precious breath of life into us and said, “live.”  To God be the glory!  Because God is omniscient, no matter how old we currently are, He still knows every minor detail that pertains to us.  He hasn’t  lost interest in us and embraces us  Even though there are times that we choose to go our own way and exclude God.  He still remains faithful and His love for us remains unshakeable.

It’s a fact, God will never stop loving us or caring about us.  How blessed we are that the God of the entire universe will always have His eyes on us.  We can depend on His love.  The Lord cherishes being in relationship with His children.  We bring honor to His name by making Him first in our lives.

Show Yourself Mighty

Show Yourself Mighty

Some of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs are as follows: “Show Yourself mighty. Show Yourself strong. In the midst of our struggles He’ll give us a song Show Yourself mighty. Show Yourself strong.”

I absolutely love it when the Lord shows up right in the midst of a situation that seems impossible to handle. It’s as if He shows up and says, “I told you that I would rescue you. You’re My child and I’m always concerned about you even when your faith may be a little shaky it does not affect My love or faithfulness towards you.”

I love it when the Lord steps in and tells your areas of weakness that Supernatural Sovereign Strength has just showed up on your behalf.

Don’t you just love it when the Lord shows up as your defender and commands your enemies to be absolutely powerless over you?

I offer my praise for the countless number of times that the Lord has shown His great love towards me. And the awesome thing about it is that since His love is never ending He will always be loving me.
