The beautiful month of October is here. The entire month is set aside to honor spiritual leaders and is referred to as Pastor Appreciation Month also known as Clergy Appreciation Month. Although many celebrate their pastors/clergy during the entire month, the 2nd Sunday in October is designated as Pastor Appreciation Day/Clergy Appreciation Day. A celebration of ministry is truly in order for the countless men and women of God who make a significant spiritual impact in the lives of others.

Think about the spiritual leaders who have touched your life in a good way. Aren’t you grateful for them? And we certainly are appreciative to God for placing them in our lives to teach us and give us godly guidance in how to live lives that are pleasing to God.

When we really take the time to consider the magnitude of what many of those who are in ministry sacrifice then we really have just cause to celebrate. Ministers have a responsibility to spend time with the Lord in prayer and studying the word of God. They have to teach and preach the word of God without compromise. They have to be able to give godly wisdom to many people. They have to be able to bring correction to people who some quite frankly may not want to be corrected. They have to make sure that there is a balance between their home life and church life and the list goes on.

It is such a blessing to be divinely connected to good spiritual leadership. They are the ones that you know are genuinely concerned about you, love you unconditionally, and want to help you advance in your Christian walk. Whoever the spiritual leaders are in your life make sure that you let them know how much you appreciate them. Because they are always pouring out into the lives of others they also need encouragement. I’m sure that your expression of gratitude will be very much appreciated.
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” Phil 1:3

Reflections

1. What are you most grateful for regarding your pastor?
2. How will you celebrate the spiritual leader in your life?
