3 Powerful Reasons to Share Your Testimony

3 Powerful Reasons to Share Your Testimony

There’s a heartwarming song that gospel recording artist Helen Baylor sings in which the lyrics state, “If it had not been for the Lord on my side, where would I be, where would I be?”  That’s a really good question when we think about some of the shattering things that occurred in some of our lives and yet we are still here to talk about how our lives were spared, or how we maintained our sanity.  It’s all because of the sovereignty and grace of God.  Reflecting on this led me to write, “3 Powerful Reasons to Share Your Testimony.”

Gives Glory to God

Expressing your gratitude to God lets Him know that you honor Him and that you know without a shadow of a doubt that your situation would not have gotten better without His divine intervention.  Testifying about His goodness gives all of the praise to Him.

Reminds You of God’s Faithfulness

As we go through life we will experience various tests.  Knowing that God is with us at all times and is willing to help us gain victory in every area is a fuel that reminds us that if He helped us before He will surely do it again.

Provides Hope for Others

Many people feel alone and as if their circumstances are impossible to fix.  Hearing what God has done for someone else often provides the encouragement needed to trust that the Lord will do the same for them.

Reflections

  • Do you have a specific testimony that you can share with someone that will bring encouragement to them? Ask the Lord to lead you to the person(s) that needs to hear it and share it with them.

  • What is one of the most amazing things God has done for you?

  • Do you feel closer to the Lord while you’re waiting for Him to work out what seems to be an impossible situation? How do you feel while you’re waiting?
It is our goal to bring you anointed words and services that inspire, encourage, and foster a closer relationship with the Lord. We thank God for you and want you to know that you’re always welcome at The Angelic Pen, “Where the words of heaven flow from God’s Heart to your spirit.”  Kimberly Smith

The Power of Snapshots

The Power of Snapshots

Dictionary.com defines a snapshot as an informal photograph taken with a simple camera.  Let’s take a look at the power of snapshots as it relates to memories.  We usually get a mental picture or impression when we think about a particular person or situation, that image can be positive or negative.  Some memories are easily welcomed while others tend to linger far beyond what we would like them to.

Just as a picture can be stored in a camera forever so can memories be stored in our minds forever. This can be good or bad, depending on the snapshot.  Let’s do a simple test.  Think of one of the most joyful days in your life, what picture just came into your mind?  Did that particular snapshot make you smile?  Did it make you feel good?

Now, let’s try another picture.  Can you think of one person that makes you feel angry, unnerved, or bitter?  The snapshot that accompanies that person’s name has a negative effect on you and you may not have communicated with the person in years.  That’s the power of snapshots; they can affect us positively or negatively.

By all means, hold on to the positive memories; they are pleasant and should be cherished.  However, you owe it to yourself to ask God to heal you of the negative ones.  Repent, if you’ve held on to unforgiveness, bitterness, or anything that displeases God.  Ask Him to replace the negative snapshots with His peace, love, grace, and forgiveness.  He knows how to turn ashes into beauty even if it’s in our memories.

Reflections

  • When people think of you what kind of memory do you think comes to their minds?

  • What kind of snapshots are you holding on to, are they positive or negative? Do they bring you peace and joy or anguish and pain?

Preparing For The Open Door

Preparing For The Open Door

Has God given you a specific calling or perhaps a particular assignment to do?  Are you aware of the impact that your God given spiritual gifts, skills, talents, and abilities can make in the world?  The very fact that His word tells us to let our lights shine is proof that He has given each of us something that we need to share with others.

It is a wonderful thing if you’re flowing in the things God has called you to do.  It is literally the answer that someone else needs.

If for some reason, you have found it hard to move forward in the things that God is leading you to do,  it is not too late to begin moving in that direction today.  God is so loving and patient, and He is big enough to remove every hindrance.

He wants to open some doors for you that will cause you to shine for Him.  As a result of this others will glorify Him.  What a blessing!  Below, I will share some things that you can start doing today to prepare you for the divine opportunities that will come your way.

  • Repentance is necessary if you haven’t done what God has called you to do.
  • Make a list of things that you love to do.
  • Make a list of your spiritual gifts, callings, talents, skills, and strengths.
  • Make a commitment to do something in those areas daily. This will strengthen you and build momentum that will cause you to flow with God.
  • Remind yourself that God is always with you. You’ll never have to do His will without Him.
  • Take a step of faith and do something new as it pertains to your spiritual assignment.

Reflections

  • Name something that you feel God has been leading you to do, but you haven’t done it.

  • What action steps will you take to begin moving in the right direction?

  • Name something that you love to do that can be a benefit to others.
