🕊️ Editor’s Note (Updated & Re-shared — April 2026): This reflection is a refreshed version of the original post titled “It’s Time For A Spring Cleaning,” first shared on The Angelic Pen. Its message continues to encourage believers to examine their hearts and renew their lives in alignment with God’s will.

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you — unless, of course, you fail“
 2 Cor 13:5 NIV

Springtime is here, and soon every trace of winter will have disappeared. The snow has melted in most places, and frigid temperatures are far behind us. Now, we’re greeted with beautiful greenery where dry, barren trees once stood.

Many people use this time of year for spring cleaning, which involves deep cleaning each room and discarding unused and dusty items.

Now let’s look at this deep cleaning from a spiritual point of view. Let’s commit to doing a thorough inward examination of our own souls. The soul consists of our minds, wills, and emotions.

We have to answer some serious questions, such as: are our thoughts and motives pure? Have we submitted our wills to the will of the Lord, or do we live our lives without even considering Him? Do we control our emotions, or do they control us? How is our love walk? Are we expressing love in a way that God would be pleased? How is our tone when we talk to people? There are so many other things that can be added to this list; the point is that the Lord wants us to live with hearts that seek to please Him.

The Lord is able and willing to cleanse us and forgive us from all unrighteousness, first we have to honestly admit that the dirt is there (see  1Jn 1:9 ) Only God can wash away all of the impurities in our lives. Regardless of how grimy things may have gotten, God’s love remains unchanged, and He will unwaveringly love us back to wholeness.

Reflections

When was the last time that you did a thorough spiritual examination?

Does your way of doing things line up with God’s way of doing things? In which areas of your life do you see alignment or differences?

What steps will you take to remove those things that are contrary to God’s way of doing things?

As you reflect, take a quiet moment to invite the Lord to search your heart. He is not here to condemn, but to cleanse, restore, and draw you closer. As He renews you, may you begin to see, love, and walk more fully in His truth each day.

God Bless You!
